The Christian And The Islamic Conversion Crusades India

Author: Vijay Kapoor

The Secret Of Winning Or Losing - A Quote From A Chinese Sage: A Chinese sage, Sun Tzu - read avidly by all armies of the world - who wrote 2500 years ago:

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

I do not have to tell you in which category Hindu Civilization falls if you know Indian history of the last 1000 years. But, the sad part is that it is a persistent character of Hindu society to forget the lessons of history. It seems while focusing on self- reflection, seeking atmagyana (self-knowledge) we have lost the art of social or national reflection to determine what has caused the Hindu Civilization to be repeatedly raped by a handful of repressive Islamic and Christian forces.

The Cognitive Disorder In The Hindu Society:

One Dr. Babu Suseelan has aptly defined the malady of the Hindus in an email received by this author recently:

"Hindus in general suffer from a kind of cognitive disorder. It is an inability to distinguish reality from illusion, a built in inability to perceive problems and find realistic solutions. Cognitive disorder encourages people to solve problems by denial. A wall of denial is built around them to avoid facing hard realities. This happens when people are coerced, brutalized and dehumanized for a number of years. Slaves, prisoners, holocaust victims used to show this symptom. Hindus, over the years, under the brutal manipulation of Muslims and Christian colonialists have inherited this symptom. Psychology says when a group of people are oppressed for a period of time, the oppressed people, rather than joining together to overthrow the oppressor, will support the oppressor to save their skin; What Hindus show is not tolerance, it is pathology.

Tolerance of evil is not real tolerance. It is mental aberration. Unless and until Hindus wake up to the reality and think freely, Hindus will act as cowards.

The Vedas And The Hindu Ignorance:

The Hindu scriptures are Vedas, which literally mean "knowledge". But, the Hindus stand at the lowest ladder of knowledge about themselves as a civilization or about the cultural mores of their adversaries. The historical consequences have been as Sun Tzu had predicted, that the Hindu Civilization has been perpetually humiliated because we have never researched the minds, morals and motivations of our enemies.

The Model Of Three Dumb Monkeys:

In contradiction to the Vedic goal of seeking knowledge, we have adapted the image of "three dumb monkeys" as our motif. Can you imagine anything more anti-knowledge than having a lofty imagery of the symbolism of three dumb monkeys? If you are in a mode of self-denial about the evils lurking around you, how can you escape becoming a victim of it?

The Jewish And The Hindu Civilization - A Contrast:

Today, Israel is strong because they know more about their enemies than the enemies know about themselves. To prevent present or future dangers to themselves, the Jewish organizations have mirrored Nazi atrocities in books, movies, museums to raise the moral consciousness of the world. How much Hindus have done to reflect on their own history?

The USA crushed the Soviet Empire, because the United States knew that the Soviets couldn't sustain the economic pressure of stretched out armament.

The Winning Traditions In The Ramayan & Mahabharat:

The sad part is that in our Hindu traditions, our great epics, both the Ramayana and the Mahabharat, give a forceful demonstration of what the Chinese sage said about the quality of knowledge determining social and national victory or defeat. Think of the very beginning of the Bhagvad Gita:

Lord Krishna's first act is to pull the chariot in the middle of the battlefield to survey the whole field and address Arjun all about the strength and the weakness of his enemies. Go to the Kauravs' side, we have an imagery of Dhritrashtra and Gandhari, both blinded and you know what was the outcome of the Mahabharat. In the Ramayana, the story is very similar.

Before Ram and Laxman decided to challenge Ravan, they sent Hanuman to scan the entire landscape of Sri Lanka, find and communicate with Sita and survey all the palaces of Ravana and examine the characters of the Ravan's brothers and his forces. Again, in the Ramayana, it is highlighted that it was the deception and the delusion on part of Sita to violate the Laxman Rekha, the defiance of the line of knowledge and treat Ravan as a sage seeking alms which put the Suryvanshi dynasty of Ram and Laxman in jeopardy. Once again, the message is the same, if you mis-perceive your enemies, you are going to suffer the dire consequences.

Betrayal By Our Leaders:

The Vedic Civilization has been betrayed by our leaders - social, spiritual or political- who have failed to grasp that the Hindu principles of pluralism and inclusivity are not acceptable to the Monotheists zealots who seek conformity and are willing to wage Jihads and Crusades seeking martyrdom. In the pursuit of Communism, Stalin and Mao were equally un-yielding. However, it was the will of the West to stand with strength against them, which changed the course of the world history.

Can you visualize how the world culture would have been different, had the Hindu civilization stood up to the handful of Ghazni's marauders a thousand years ago and repulsed them to go back to face the Christian crusaders who were enveloping the Middle-East during that period of the World history. Consider the shape of Hindu civilization, which still claimed 25% of the world wealth in 1750, even after 750 years of mayhems conducted by the invaders from across the Khyber Pass.

Albruni's Message To Hindus And Mohd. Ghazni:

Albruni, a great scholar of Mohd. Gazni's times, who came to India along with the Ghazni's forces a thousand years ago, felt pity at the downfall of the flourishing Hindu civilization. He tried to urge Hindus to venture out of India to learn about other people to help defend themselves from the repeated invasions and sufferings. But he found that Hindus preferred seclusion and isolation with a false sense of superiority. He discovered that the Hindus neglected to defend their frontiers and care even less about the enemies lurking on the other side of their borders. Instead they recited daily Om Shanti, Shanti, and Dhaya dharma ka mool hai and that Jo hoga, wah achha hi hoga, etc. (Om Peace, Peace, and that kindness is the root of religion and that whatever comes to pass is good.)

Knowledge Alone Liberates:

Swami Ji opens his talk on Atmabodha saying that the knowledge is the only direct means for moksa, freedom. The elixir of knowledge is equally valid and perhaps more so, because it is tangible and visible even to the lowliest of person to secure national freedom. Ignorance of the adversaries can never be a blessing. Arya Samaj should make its prime goal to mass educate the Hindus about the teachings of Monotheists as to what motivates them to act violently in the name of God. To learn about the Abrahamic and Biblical teachings and traditions, I would strongly suggest you to form reading groups to study some or all of the following books written by distinguished Western scholars,

1. The Origin of Satan by Elaine Pagels, Prof. Of Religion, Princeton University - 184 pages.

2. Why Christianity Must change or die by Bishop John Shelby Spong -228 pages.

3. The Curse of Cain, the Violent Legacy of Monotheism by Regina Schwartz, Prof. Northwestern University - 176 pages.

4. A History of God - 4000 Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity and Islam by Karen Armstrong, Oxford University. (A National Best-Selling Book) - 399 pages.

5. In the Beginning by Karen Armstrong - 119 pages

6. Holy War, the Crusades & Their Impact on Today's World by Karen Armstrong - 539 pages.

7. GOD - A Biography, by Jack Miles, Director of Humanities at the Claramont Graduate School, Calif. (Winner of Pulitzer Prize) - 408 pages.

8. Why I am Not A Muslim by Ibn Warraq, Professor in Ohio - 360 pages.

A Lesson For The Twenty-First Century:

To survive through the 21st century, Hindus shall have to commit themselves to change- to become more worldly wise and less introspective. The Hindu leadership, both spiritual and political, must devote more time to grasp the modus operandi of their enemies just as both Israel and the United States have done in their own confrontations with the opposing forces. Follow those who have warded of tyranny to give their citizens freedom to pursue kama, artha, dharma and moksha.
