Honorable Vajpayeeji:
We are writing to you as Hindus/admirers of
Hindu Dharma who have been deeply hurt by your apparent indifference
to Hindu sentiments as regards the aspiration of millions
of Hindus for the construction of Shree Ram Temple at the
birth-site of Bhagwan Ram in Ayodhya.
The recent premeditated and preplanned barbaric
act of burning alive of 58 Hindu karsevaks who were returning
from a religious ceremony at Ayodhya on the Sabarmati Express
in Godhara by Muslim terrorists should have evoked an immediate,
unequivocal and stern response from a leader of your stature.
Sadly, this did not happen. On the contrary, like your predecessors
you chose to rub salt in the wounds of victims by asking Vishwa
Hindu Parishad to suspend its plans to start construction
of Shree Ram Temple on the undisputed land near the Ram Janmabhoomi!
Statements like 'Gujarat riots are a disgrace on the nation'
while maintaining silence on the ghastly killings of 58 innocent
Hindus- the root cause of these riots, only pamper and encourage
the aggressors.
If performing of religious ceremony at Ayodhya
to facilitate unobstructed construction of Shree Ram Temple
is sufficient reason to provoke the minority community into
torching Hindus alive and it does not touch your conscience
then, that day may not be far when mere intellectual disagreements
of Hindus with the Muslim terrorists would be considered as
valid grounds on which Hindus could be persecuted further.
When you and your party came to power on the
blood and sweat of many Hindu workers, when you, L. K. Advaniji
and other colleagues rode to victory on the strength of your
support to Ayodhya movement, when Advaniji took out famous
Ratha Yaatra and thundered time and again that Ram Janmabhoomi
was a matter of faith and no court could sit on its judgment,
when your party passed a resolution supporting construction
of Shree Ram Temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi in its Palampur
convention, we sincerely believed that your victory would
result in end of minority-appeasement. We believed that a
government under your able leadership would deliver on its
promise of "appeasement to none and justice to all'.
We believed that an Atal Behari Vajpayee led government would
end constant injustice meted out to Hindus by successive governments.
We believed that a government under you would worry more about
the progress of nation and less about vote-bank politics.
Unfortunately, you have shaken our faith in
your party and more importantly in yourself. Your government's
initiatives have been hardly different than those of your
predecessor governments, be it the hijacking of Indian Airlines
plane, the attack on Jammu and Kashmir Secretariat or the
dastardly attack on the Parliament of Bharat and now the most
despicable pre-planned attack at Godhara. Specifically, your
government, very much like its predecessors, has responded
to these acts of blatant terrorism by either giving in to
the wishes of the terrorists, or by plain inaction, or as
in the Godhara case, asking the Hindu victims to show restrain.
Political expediency and love of governing power seem to have
clouded the vision of the BJP leadership much the same way
as that of the leaders of all the preceding governments and
the party that claimed to provide governance with difference
seems to have been reduced to a party with no difference.
We, the Hindus/admirers of Hindu Dharma from
the USA and all over the world appeal to your conscience and
exhort you to:
(1) Show the courage to call a spade
and declare your determination to apprehend, try and punish
severely the masterminds and culprits of the Godhara carnage
without any political consideration.
(2) Respect the sentiment of Hindus by working
to remove all obstacles from the path of construction of Shree
Ram Temple in a time bound fashion.
(3) Hand over the undisputed 67 acres of land
to Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Nyaas immediately and without further
delay.
(4) Allow movement of construction material
and constructed parts from the Shree Ram Temple workshop to
the undisputed land immediately.
(5) Allow Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Nyaas and Vishwa
Hindu Parishad to start construction of Shree Ram Temple on
the above-mentioned undisputed land without any governmental
or other interference.
(6) Establish a special court to hear on a day
to day basis the cases related to the disputed land which
measures approximately 60 ft. x 80 ft. and have a judgment
in a predetermined time period.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
